Michael moved to OMERS in January 2010 as its Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to oversee the strategic, operational and financial leadership of the pension plan’s investment activities.

Prior to moving to OMERS, Michael was responsible for Oxford Properties Group, the real estate arm wholly owned by OMERS. Michael led the successful acquisition of Oxford Properties, a publicly listed company, in October 2001 on behalf of OMERS. Under his leadership, the company proceeded to build and acquire a portfolio of iconic assets globally with offices across Canada, the UK – London and in the USA - New York. Previously, Michael’s career included time at George Weston Limited, Trizec Limited, Borealis Capital Corporation and Primaris REIT. Michael led the successful IPO listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange for Primaris REIT and was its President and CEO.

He has also served on the boards of the Sports Celebrity Festival – Special Olympics and the Canadian Paraplegic Association. He is a former Chair and Board Member of the Real Property Association of Canada and former Real Estate and Infrastructure Advisory Board member at the Schulich School of Business at York University. A proud alumnus, he currently sits on the Board of Governors of McMaster University.

Michael has been recognized by NAIOP with its real estate excellence award for Community Service. In 2012 and 2013, he was recognized as one of the world’s most influential asset owners globally by Asset International’s Chief Investment Officer Magazine. In 2016, he received the DeGroote School’s Wayne C. Fox Distinguished Alumni Award.

Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Michael holds a BA from McMaster University. Michael resides in Toronto with his wife and two children.

Mr. Bell previously served as OMERS Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer. He played a leading role in implementing the OMERS Global Human Resources Strategy, as well as securing and developing the talent and intellectual capital that makes OMERS one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada and a global leader in the pension and investment industries.

Prior to joining OMERS in 2010, Mr. Bell held a variety of senior management positions in human resources and operations over his progressive, 25 plus year career at TD Bank Group. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President, Corporate Human Resources.

Mr. Bell is a graduate of the University of Ottawa, from which he holds both Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Bachelor of Administration degrees. Mr. Bell is a Certified Human Resources Professional, a Certified Human Resources Leader, a Certified Human Resources Executive, a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, and is certified by the Institute of Corporate Directors as an ICD.D.

Mr. Cowper-Smith previously served as OMERS Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Chief Legal Officer. Before joining OMERS, Mr. Cowper-Smith was a senior partner at McCarthy Tétrault, where he practiced primarily in the area of mergers and acquisitions and governance. Mr. Cowper-Smith provided legal advice to OMERS and its businesses on a wide range of projects, including governance matters.

Mr. Cowper-Smith holds Bachelor and Master of Law degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Prior to joining OMERS in 2011, Mr. Hill worked as a Partner for an international accounting firm, where he specialized in auditing complex public and private companies. During this time, he also held several leadership roles with the firm, including responsibility for leading a 200 person business unit. He also led the internal finance team which analyzed and reported on business results. In addition, Mr. Hill assisted in the ongoing development of the firm’s global audit methodology.

A graduate from the University of Kent at Canterbury, with an Honours degree in Accounting with Computing, Mr. Hill is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA-UK). He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CPA) in Canada.

Mr. Hutcheson is one of Canada's leading real estate executives and entrepreneurs. Under his leadership in recent years, Oxford has expanded its portfolio and platform in each of the three target markets of Canada, Europe and the US, and has continued to grow the company’s reputation as a leader in the commercial real estate industry.

Prior to OMERS, Mr. Hutcheson was the Head of Global Real Estate with Mount Kellett Capital Management, a New York-based private equity firm with offices in key locations around the globe. Prior to that, he was President of the Canadian, Latin American, and Mexican operations for CB Richard Ellis, the world's largest real estate services company.

A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Mr. Hutcheson also completed a Graduate Diploma in International and Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics and a Master's Degree in Real Estate Development at Columbia University.

A 30-year veteran of the investment sector, Mr. Rai’s career includes extensive experience in active equity and fixed income portfolio management. Prior to joining OMERS, he served as Chief Investment Officer at TD Asset Management, overseeing $250 billion in assets under management. At TDAM Mr. Rai also acted as Chair of the Committee of the Advancement of Visible Minorities in Leadership Roles and member of the Diversity Leadership Council.

Mr. Rai holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He has previously been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Industry Leaders Under 40, and in 2006 he received the Alumni Achievement Medal from the University of Waterloo Faculty of Mathematics.

Mr. Rai is actively involved in the community, including through service on the Board of Governors, Finance Committee and Investment Committee of the University of Waterloo and as a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization/World Presidents’ Organization. He is also a past member of the boards of the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation and Women in Capital Markets.

OMERS directly owns and actively manages the significant majority of its private market investments. Overseeing OMERS Private Markets portfolios, with net equity investments in excess of C$18 billion, Mr. Rolland leads international teams that focus on disciplined investing in high-quality companies with strong management that are well suited to delivering stable, long term returns to allow OMERS to meet its pension obligations.

In his 15 years at OMERS, Mr. Rolland has been directly responsible for leading the evolution of OMERS infrastructure investment arm into a leading global investor in large-scale assets.

Mr. Rolland has a diverse background in accounting, commercial finance and a broad range of industry sectors and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant designations. He holds an Honours Business Administration Degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Mr. Simmons is a graduate of the University of Warwick (England) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. His contributions to the community extend to serving as a director for various non-profit organizations, including the Futurpreneur Canada.
