In this issue you’ll find an update on the renewal of e-access, information on reporting back-to-back leave periods, what you need to know about upcoming Plan changes and more!
 

e-access Feedback Workshop

Registration is now open for our e-access feedback workshops. It’s time to make a change but we can’t do it without you! Please join us for a half day workshop where we will explore the needs and wants for our new administration system. Follow the link below to find a location near you.

Space is limited. Once workshops are full we will have a wait list available. Anyone who cannot participate in-person will have the opportunity to provide feedback virtually.
 

Back-to-Back Leave Periods

If a member has back-to-back leave periods, each leave should be administered separately and should be reported as two separate leave periods. Each leave will have its own election form and purchase deadline.
 
For example:
Leave Type Dates Purchase Deadline
Pregnancy/Parental October 16, 2017 – October 15, 2018 December 31, 2019
Authorized October 16, 2018 – February 11, 2019 December 31, 2020

Even though the Pregnancy/Parental leave is immediately followed by the Authorized leave, it does not extend the purchase deadline for the former; each leave will have its own expiry date.

Upcoming e-access Maintenance

We will be updating our internal systems towards the end of October which may temporarily impact e-access. We are targeting this maintenance to occur over a weekend to minimize the outage period and any impact to you. More details will be provided in the coming weeks on exact dates and times.

OMERS Sponsors Corporation Plan Changes – What You Need to Know

This is a reminder that the OMERS Sponsors Corporation introduced changes to the OMERS Primary Pension Plan (the Plan) in August 2017 that will be implemented as of January 1, 2020.  These changes primarily impact the buy-back and commuted value (CV) provisions for members.

Details regarding these changes can be found on the OMERS website.

Friendly Reminder – Help us Shape the OMERS Member Experience

From September 30 – October 25, 2019 we will be launching a Member Engagement Survey because the more we know about their perception and experience, the more we will be able to improve their experience with OMERS. Members can participate online (via link or QR code) or by phone and more information is available at omers.com/survey.
