Susan Arab

Susan Arab was appointed to the OMERS AC Board effective April 18, 2023 on the nomination of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). She serves as a member of the Audit & Actuarial Committee, the Member Services Committee and the Appeals Committee.

Ms. Arab was employed by CUPE for almost 30 years before retiring in July 2022. While with CUPE, Ms. Arab performed many pension-related roles including Pension Research Specialist. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of InBenefits. She was a trustee and co-chair of a multi-sector target pension plan sponsored by CUPE and SEIU. She was also elected trustee and later co-chair on the CUPE Employees’ Pension Plan. All in all, she has over 17 years experience serving as a pension trustee or board member. Ms. Arab has also worked as a research consultant to the University Pension Plan where she gave strategic advice on engagement and outreach.

Ms. Arab has a certificate in Pension Law from York University, Osgoode Hall, a Master of Arts degree In Political Science from York University, and a B.A. from Carleton University.
